Description and specifications
Description
KPV is a short tripeptide fragment with the sequence Lys-Pro-Val. In research models, the peptide is investigated for its role in immune response, inflammatory signalling and skin barrier processes. Supplied as a lyophilised powder for reconstitution in the laboratory. For research use only (in vitro / laboratory use). Not for consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use.
Research summary
KPV is a short tripeptide with the sequence Lys-Pro-Val and forms the C-terminal part of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It has been studied as the minimal sequence for several of the anti-inflammatory effects associated with alpha-MSH. Most of the research has been done in cells, animal models and formulation technology.
Level of evidence: KPV has several relevant preclinical publications, but few robust human data. It should therefore be presented as a laboratory tool for inflammation and barrier models, not as a clinically documented substance.
This information is written for a laboratory and research context. The product is not intended for consumption, diagnostics or therapeutic use.

In laboratory studies, KPV appears able to influence inflammatory signalling in epithelial and immune cells. Some studies investigate melanocortin receptors, while others point to receptor-independent mechanisms or transport through peptide transporters. This makes KPV interesting for barrier and inflammation models, particularly in the gut and skin.
What is being researched?
- Inflammatory signalling in keratinocytes and airway epithelium
- Mouse models of inflammatory bowel disease
- Targeted delivery systems for KPV in colitis models
- Antimicrobial effects of alpha-MSH/KPV fragments
